Willkommen · Welcome · Bienvenu · Benvenuto · Laipni lūdzam · Bienvenidos · Witajcie · Velkommen · Tervetuloa · Hosgeldiniz · Bem-vindo

Dear colleagues, dear students,

Please find enclosed the schedule for the week of the 20th European Days, taking place in Lollar from April 22 to April 26, 2013 in Lollar and Staufenberg and some important information for the procedure.

We have separate plans for teachers and students, as there will be different procedures and as the teachers and students are accommodated in different places (hotel/families).

Our main aim was to have mixed groups as often as possible, but some activities will be for the guests only, e.g. an excursion to Marburg on Monday afternoon, except for the musicians who have a special workshop during that time and the guests from Berlin.

There is a letter giving you detailed information on the opening and closing ceremony and the contributions of all the guests to these two events. For these two events our musicians have practiced songs which we want to sing together with you. The instructions for the complete performance and the sequence of the songs can be found in the letter, as well. It is planned that all schools bring along solo singers so that later all the all guests will be standing on the stage together, waving flags of their respective countries (the flags are here already).

On Monday afternoon there will be a workshop ‘Music‘ with Professor Wim Kratsborn, in which two students and one teacher from each COMENIUS school shall take part, so that we will be prepared for the second year of our project work. This workshop will be continued on Tuesday.

For the UNESCO-Workshop we also need two students from each country. In four units (three on Tuesday and one on Thursday) collages of places of world cultural heritage of the participating countries will be put together and the results will later be exhibited.

The ‘International Buffet‘ also has to be prepared. Each country is asked to contribute one idea for this buffet and prepare it together with the team from our Mensa (school cafeteria). Here three students and one teacher should help. Please send us the recipe and the list of ingredients for your special dish by March 15th so that the ingredients can be bought here. If there is a special ingredient, please bring it along.

Thank you to all schools for paying your contribution to the budget for teacher training. In one of the meetings of coordinators we will decide about how to use the money.

The coordinators are having two meetings, on Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 12 a.m. in order to exchange ideas and to plan the project work for the second year.

All students from partner schools who are not involved in one of the works (music, UNESCO) take part in the workshops or projects and various activities together with their host student.

On Wednesday there will be excursions for all the guests (teachers and students). The groups for these trips will be formed later, as we still have to organize some of these places and book tours. In addition there will be sports activities on Wednesday and a walk/run to recruit financial support. If a guest wants to take part in these sports activities he/she will not be able to take part in the trips. He/She will also have to bring along sports gear.

Team and coordinator COMENIUS

Dr. Barbara Himmelsbach
