Two newspapers – Jornal das Caldas and Gazeta das Caldas.
Jornal das Caldas basically reproduces what is written in the cip blog., describes many of the activities and emphasizes the aspect of many people “getting together” and sharing many things.
Gazeta das Caldas also tells a bit of the CIP history, in which we have participated since the first moment, says we do it without any grants and says it is part of our school identity. In subtitles says – “Foreign students want to come back in holidays” , ” Teenagers use this experience to practise their english”. It also says that all students were in Portugal for the first time and reproduces an interview with the German student Jessica K. ” It has been a wonderful experience! The people are nice, the weather is good and the food is tasty.” She also says her city is smaller than Caldas and she considers the Portuguese to be ” nice, polite but a little crazy”. She loved to know Caldas and wishes she could come back with her family on their vacations.
Paavo V. from Finland says that the best was “the weatherand the the “cool” way of being of the Portuguese”. He loved Bordalo Pinheiro School because “it is a modern school” and what he loved best was to play basketball and having attended a cookery workshop because he learned how to cook a dish of meat and potatoes.
Marcel S., from Germany thinks the Portuguese students are “very nice” and was happy to have made new friends in a foreign country. This was his second time outside Germany as he had already been to USA, Chicago. He liked the dancing and art workshops and said that, in the future, he would like to go into politics.”I’d love to come back on holidays with my family.”
Barbara H, the Headmaster of the German School, is also a member of the project since its beginning.. She considers this experience to be “very important for the students” , specially because they have the chance to see that students from different countries “have the same goals to learn at school and at the same time want to have a little fun”. Besides the chance of knowing other cultures ” this helps them raise their desire to travel and host foreign students”. For the teachers it is also important to exchange ideas ” it allows us to understand the differences of the educational systems, although the main ideas are the same, except for small details that distinguish us because of the different cultures.
Mari H., who is a Teacher of English and German in Finland, thinks these meetings are essential for the students and teachers because the exchange of ideas are “useful for all of them”. She loved the region that she even tried to find a place to stay with her family, for one week or two, during her holidays time.Mari H. was asked about the Finniish economical support to Portugal, that had came as a bad idea of the 4th political party in Finland. “I think it is a minority that thinks that way and in the final, there will come a deal, in a way that the economical help will exist.”
Ilze S: is the Headmaster of the Latvian School, which will host the next meeting. This Teacher was in Portugal for the second time and thinks that this kind of experience is “very good” for the students as they are “forced to speak English with their school friends, as well as with the host families.” She emphasized the good organization of the meeting and how good it had been the exchange of ideas among teachers, which allowed “to better know the different school systems”. Teachers and students from Latvia found the region’s weather as Summer time, as in Latvia they had “5º C”See More
